May Crowning 2015

In keeping with tradition, parishioners held the annual May crowning of the statue of Our Lady in the grotto.

Living Stations of the Cross 2014

As part of the annual Holy Week tradition at Saint Benedict, parishioners gathered for the Living Stations of the Cross.

Christmas 2013

From the rich decoration of poinsettias, to the flickering candlelight, the parishioners and friends of Saint Benedict celebrated the birth of the Christ Child with the vigil mass of Christmas.

Christmas Caroling 2013

On December 26, ChristLife Young Adult Community and parishioners of Saint Benedict gathered for their fourth annual Christmas Caroling celebration. The group spent the day caroling first for the parish went into the streets of west Baltimore singing for neighborhood residents. Bishop Madden gave a blessing to the group at the beginning of the day

Navy Skipjacks Concert 2013

 How better to send the summer than with a End of the Summer Concert. On August 25 the Navy Skipjacks brought music and song to the Parish parking lot. The parish community was joined by the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word from EWTN.

Mass & Celebration with Padre Luis Angel de Jesus León-Sáenz 2013

On September 8, newly-ordained Padre Luis Angel de Jesus León-Sáenz celebrated mass at Saint Benedict. After mass a reception was help in the parish hall where Padre Luis gave blessings.

The Food Pantry 2013

This Fall, Brs. John and James of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word, from ETWN, served in our Food Pantry alongside the dedicated volunteers of Saint Benedict.

Celebrating Fr. Paschal's 75th Birthday 2013

On May 19, Fr. Paschal celebrated his 75th birthday. The Mass of Thanksgiving included First Holy Communion. After mass, parishioners and friends gathered in the parish hall for a luncheon and fellowship.

May Procession and Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary 2013

On May 5, Saint Benedict celebrated Our Blessed Mother with a mass and procession for the Blessed Mother. Our Lady was crowned in the grotto on the grounds of the church.

Easter Vigil 2013

On March 31, Saint Benedict celebrated the Easter Vigil. Beginning in darkness, the service slowly moves into light until the church is bathed in the great light, the Resurrection of the Lord.

Good Friday 2013

On March 29, Saint Benedict celebrated the services of Good Friday with the living stations of the cross, a procession and adoration of the most Holy Cross. 

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Candlemas & Blessing of the Throats 2013

On February 2, Saint Benedict celebrated Candlemas and Saint Blaise's Blessing of the Throats. This was an important time for the parish community to gather together and celebrate the culmination of the Christmas.

The Baptism of the Lord 2013

On January 13, the parish gathered together to celebrate the Baptism of Our Lord.

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4

Confirmation 2012

Before receiving the sacrament of Confirmation, candidates gather in the parish center. After meeting with the Bishop, the process to the church for mass and reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Christmas Pageant 2012

And "the word became flesh and dwelt among us!" How better to celebrate the great mystery of Christmas than by living out the story of the nativity. Our youth recreated the great story of Christmas.

Fr. Leonard's Mass of Thanksgiving 2012

The Parish celebrated the ordination of Fr. Leonard of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word, EWTN, with a Mass of Thanksgiving followed by a luncheon afterwards.

Knights of Columbus Ice Cream Social and Basketball 2012

The Knights of Columbus generously sponsored an ice cream social on November 18. This event brought together the entire parish faith community for an afternoon of faith and fellowship. The Knights also sponsored a day of family basketball as well Hotdogs and snacks were served afterward.

On April 6, Saint Benedict celebrated the services of Good Friday with the living stations of the cross, a procession and adoration of the most Holy Cross.

Palm Sunday 2012

On Sunday, April 1, Saint Benedict celebrated Palm Sunday, remembering our Lord's triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The solemn liturgy began first with a procession around the church. 

Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Psalm 27:4

The Epiphany of Our Lord 2012

On January 8, Saint Benedict celebrated The Epiphany of Our Lord. This feast celebrates the manifestation of the divine nature of Jesus to the Gentiles as represented by the Magi.

Food Pantry Christmas Outreach 2011

The parish community gathered together on the fourth sunday of Advent to package bags of food for the food pantry. These bags would be distributed throughout the community. Before delivering the bags, the parish gathered together to sing some traditional christmas carols. 

Preparing "The Village at Norcia" 2011

Father Paschal worked with community leaders to demolish the abandoned houses behind the church so that a senior citizen complex with 100 apartments for low income housing could be created. This community will be named the Village at Norcia, in honor of the birthplace of Saint Benedict.

Christmas Vigil 2011

Saint Benedict celebrated the birth of the Christ Child with the Vigil Mass of Christmas on December 24. The children of the parish performed the traditional Christmas Pageant.

Easter Vigil 2011

On April 24, the parish celebrated the great Easter Vigil. They welcomed new members into the church through the R.C.I.A. process.

Palm Sunday 2011

On April 17, the parish held a great procession and mass for Palm Sunday.

The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Hosanna in the highest heaven!" Matthew 21:9 

Feast of All Saints 2011

On November 1, Saint Benedict celebrated the Feast of All Saints.

After this I had a vision of a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation, race, people, and tongue. They stood before the throne and before the Lamb, wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands.... [One of the elders] said to me, ‘These are the ones who have survived the time of great distress; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Revelation 7:9, 14 

Good Friday 2011

Bringing Christ to the people is what the Gospel commands up to do. A tradition at Saint Benedict is a procession on Good Friday as well as the living stations of the cross. This was held on April 22.
